Some people on the spiritual path have partners who share their beliefs but for many of us this is not the case or our partners have not been on the path as long as we have. Occasionally, the challenges of this dichotomy arise in our house.
As an emerging and reluctant`believer`occasionally DB (my other half) `goes off on one`, when it comes to the question of spirituality. This is not helped by the fact that in the evenings he imbibes a copious quantity of red wine – always guaranteed to lubricate a certain viewpoint…
Last night a contre-temps was sparked by the fact that I have been wondering if there might be multiple dimensions or planes within the new earth. When I asked DB if we could discuss it I got the response: “Well you can talk at me if you want.” Not exactly the best start to engaging in such a conversation!
The situation quickly escalated and within five minutes most of the key bases had been covered including “What are you going to do if the new earth never happens?“ (a good question actually) And, (as if with the certainty of someone who has made it their life’s work) that the etheric layer is all in the imagination.
Anyway, by the end of the interlude DB had concluded with a flourish that much of the writing on this blog is imaginative nonsense. I had to remind him that the spirit of Mr B (our beloved and deceased hound) goes on cycle rides with him on a regular basis or was that just his imagination. At which point we both agreed to a truce.
But it does raise a bigger question as the veil is lifted. Will people keep themselves to themselves and only share their awareness with those close to them or also on the same path. Or, will those waking up want the wider world to know regardless of how they might be viewed? This is especially true for those of us operating in the mainstream business world.
It also raises another interesting point. On the spiritual journey it is crucial to focus intently on the heart. However, one side-effect of this heart focus is that we can get tongue-tied when it comes to intellectual explanations and arguments.
So, when someone is challenging your belief system where do you go? Because in the end, that heart-felt knowing, the truth that resonates so clearly from the heart can be hard to fully express through words alone.
One thing DB said did make me smile: “If I go for a walk with the dogs and a space ship lands in front of me in the field – then I’ll believe all of this.”
Well, there’s an invitation if ever there was one!
